Most platforms rely on external sources to display historical data. We've all seen those familiar TradingView charts integrated into decentralized web applications.
But DEXnow.io does things differently.
The DEXnow.io smart contract stores an extensive history of transactions on the platform. These data points serve as the foundation for constructing price charts.
When you first open the Price Chart window on DEXnow.io, it fetches this historical data and subsequently updates the chart in real-time based on the current trades happening on the DEXnow.io exchange.
In other words, there are no external data sources involved, and the web application operates entirely within the confines of interaction with the smart contract.
In our next post, we'll delve into how to make the most of the charting tools available on DEXnow.io.
